As lockdown has eased and with the schools back we were delighted to welcome the first group of Year 8 boys from Bishops Wordsworth School to hike around part of the Estate and our in-hand farming operation.
The hike was reported as a huge success all round with the boys really enjoying the day out and engaging with the process from start to finish. The beetle banks which form part of our conservation efforts in some of our larger fields were the biggest point of interest with the boys! A variety of wildlife was seen and it was a real treat to be able to get out and experience the great outdoors for some, with one or two of the boys commenting that they don’t really go on walks as families and were pretty blown away by the experience.
All in all a brilliant new venture with Bishops Wordsworth and one we are looking at how we develop with them to assist with their curriculum and extracurricular activities .
